Event: 24th Annual Kid's Day
Location: President's Hall at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds.
Time: Doors open to the community at 10:00 AM and the show runs until 2:30 PM.
Details: We understand that everyone’s lives get so hectic that it is easy to forget to take time out for fire and safety prevention. That’s why local fire departments and community organizations are doing our part to remind kids and families that safety is everyone’s responsibility. We know that when we provide children with fire prevention and life safety information, we are able to reach the heart of families. Kids’ Day provides families with an opportunity to take a moment to have a good time while picking up tips and resources about ways to keep kids and families safe and healthy.
New to this year’s event is a bike rodeo for kids put on by Leadership Kitsap with drawings for bike giveaways and bicycle tune-ups on site, so bring your bike; a school bus rescue simulation sponsored by the Region One Life Safety Council; and an activity demonstrating the use of avalanche beacons in rescues by Olympic Mountain Rescue. Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue also provides live fire demonstrations and passenger vehicle extrications, along with indoor entertainment by the Ride and Glide Stunt Team whose daring athletes wow kids while spreading the message about bicycle safety, positive self-esteem, and healthy living. Over 45 booths provide fire and life safety information. Kids, come meet Sparky the Fire Dog and his buddies the Bloodhound Rescue Dogs.
Teens and adults are invited to practice your skills with a fire extinguisher on "real flames" at the Navy Region NW Fire and Emergency Services booth, challenge yourself to a rope rescue drill, or get fitted with a new bike helmet. There'll be lots to do and see at Kids' Day 2009!

Event: "Sanctuary Secrets" Mystery Dinner Fundraiser
Host: Canterbury Care Center
Location: 1547 Sheridan Road
Time: 6:00 PM-9:00 PM
Details: After the tragic and mysterious murder in Spooky Church 25 years ago, the church was closed to the public. Much speculation still remains around the unsolved murder of the Mayor s first-wife, the young soap opera star, including why she was at Spooky Church that night and the inconclusive evidence of the Mayor s innocence. Even more intriguing, is the growing number of witnesses and complaints about haunting cries and lights in the abandoned Sanctuary over the years.
Recently a painstakingly anonymous investor has made a generous contribution to secure the church s place on the National Historical Registry. In addition, an endowment has been granted to restore Spooky Church to its former glory and re-open as a museum. Religious relics from the four corners of the world will be on display in honor of the Grand Opening. This Gala Event of the Year will be invite only! Therefore, to be considered part of the elite and receive an invitation it will require your "character" to either be famous, rich, or scandalous!
This dinner event is guaranteed to be both delicious and suspicious with many guilty suspects, crimes, and maybe even another murder.
